Le Havre Regional Union of Freight Forwarders and Customs Brokers (STH)

The STH is a pivotal link in the Le Havre port community. It coordinates the day-to-day management of major maritime flows in conjunction with partners such as ship-owners, shipping agents, freight handlers, and road, river or rail transporters.

We cultivate close, on-going relationships with authorities such as customs and port administration, the Directorate General for Competition Policy, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control (DGCCRF), and France’s transportation, agriculture, and environment ministries.

We are a source of information for all areas of transport law, particularly legal codes and EU or global regulations.

KEY FIGURES

  • 160 companies
  • 6000 employees
  • 3,200,000 sqm of bonded warehouses
  • €6 billion in turnover

The STH has continually adapted to changes not only in sea, land, river and rail transport, but also in freight logistics.

It has formed an international network with agencies and agents sprinkled worldwide, thus comprehensively incorporating modern technologies into ocean shipping.

As a major shareholder of SOGET, the STH played an active role in rolling out computerized freight management in the port of Le Havre.

For several reasons the STH was moved to create GEPIFEC, currently Europe’s most modern border inspection post. It owns the property and manages it in conjunction with French customs and the Ministry of Agriculture.

The STH has always been a pillar in the national federations of professions exercised in Le Havre, even before 1939.
